Over the winter break, I proposed that we create the Twitter hashtag #SEAbikes to help make the Twitter conversation about biking in Seattle a little easier to keep track of. Response was pretty immediate: Well, it’s about freaking time.
Those of you who only read the Seattle Bike Blog posts are missing out on a pretty regular stream of brilliance over on Twitter (which gets posted on Facebook, too). Okay, maybe brilliance is the wrong word.
Anyway, if you are a Twitter user, tag your posts with #SEAbikes and people following the conversation will be able to find it easier. It will also show up in the sidebar of this blog right below the map of bike wrecks.
Interested in following the biking conversation outside Seattle? BikeCommuteNews has created a handy database of biking hashtags from around the world.
So there you have it. We’re starting off 2011 like it’s 2009: With a hashtag! Join the conversation.

I was able to get many retweets for the creation of #bikeCBUS for Columbus, OH. It’s only been a few days, but I’m hoping it actually catches on. Toronto’s #bikeTO is a really great example of the use of these hashtags in my opinion.
