Lots and lots of bike stuff changed hands Sunday at the 15th annual Seattle Bike Swap. This year, the swap (which is something of a rummage sale, except with lots of carbon fiber stuff) was held at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall.
There seemed to be a lot of people buying their first bikes, which was good to see. I also learned that there are carbon fiber water bottle cages that cost more than my bike. How strange.
I bought a bike pump and a saddle for a couple bucks. The saddle kind of sucks, it turns out. But I got a flat on the way home, so the pump immediately came in handy. I probably should have been on the lookout for a better tire…
Anyone out there find anything good?

I picked up a $5 pair of shifter cables. I immediately put them on my bike and enjoyed my commute this morning!
Wow!
I wish the swap would take off like this in Spokane. We tried to do one last year, but it didn’t go so well. I think part of the fail was having 3 or 4 at once in different locations, and several of them at bike shops where people who walked by were interested in shiny new stuff, not good deals on used. It wasn’t advertised particularly well either.
