Stage actor dies after bicycle incident

There are few details available, but Seattle Times reports that stage actor Mark Chamberlin died Tuesday following a weekend bicycling incident. We will update when we find out what happened.

Chamberlin recently starred as Odysseus in The Odyssey at Taproot Theatre. The show closed March 5. Chamberlin, a Phinney Ridge resident, had been an actor for 30 years, according to a profile in the P.I. He also played Scrooge at ACT this winter.

In addition to major roles on many Seattle stages (Seattle Rep, Taproot, ACT Theatre), he appeared on Broadway and in a number of film and television projects.

He recently finished a run as Odysseus in Taproot’s production of “The Odyssey.”

In addition, he was the president of the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter’s board of directors, and also served on the boards of the UW School of Drama and New Century Theatre Company.
