Beyond Naked follows four people riding nude in Fremont Solstice Parade

NOTE: This video is basically safe for work, unless your work is square and doesn’t like flashes of people’s painted naked bodies.

You still have a chance to be a movie star. The only catch is you gotta get naked.

No, it’s not that kind of movie. Beyond Naked is a documentary following four people who as they prepare to ride in the buff during the Fremont Solstice Parade for their first times. Filmmakers have selected three of the four film subjects. If you want to be the fourth, drop them a line by Sunday, April 17:

If you or someone you know is considering riding for the first time this year, and is perhaps on the fence or facing a challenge they need to overcome, and yet are willing to consider taking us along on their journey, please contact producer Lisa Cooper at [email protected].

Fremont Universe interviewed filmmaker Dan McComb about Beyond Naked and where the idea for the film came from:

If you ask someone on the street whether they’ve heard of the Fremont Solstice Parade, the frequent reply is: “You mean the naked bikers?” How is it that a rogue group of loosely organized, unpaid individuals have managed to become synonymous with the parade? And why here, when cities like San Diego have blocked rides from starting by threatening participants with arrest? As the title implies, we hope this film (in addition to being a lighthearted adventure) can shift the conversation about artistic nudity from one focused on whether people should be allowed to be naked in public, to a deeper exploration of self-expression, artistic license and personal freedom.
