Weekend guide: Dead Baby Downhill + More naked biking

The fifteenth annual Dead Baby Downhill takes off from West Seattle Friday evening.

The DBD is an annual bicycle bash hosted by the Dead Baby Bike Club. Tall bike jousting, freak bikes, pedal-powered mania from Cyclecide, music… basically a huge party.

The race starts at Shipwreck Tavern at Admiral Way and California in West Seattle. Prerace festivities start there at 5 p.m., race starts at 7. It’s a bar, so the preparty is 21+. However, the race is all ages. Here’s how Go Means Go describes it:

Meet at a bar at the top of a hill- race to the bottom where the biggest bike party on the west coast takes place. Have fun all night long.

Meanwhile, Vecta Photo in Georgetown has an exhibit showcasing 15 years of Dead Baby bikes. The show runs through Saturday if you want to catch it.

If you are going and have a camera, Dead Baby Gergis is making a documentary and wants your help.

Speaking of video, check out this video from last year to get an idea of what to expect: (warning, potentially NSFW image below the jump)

Cyclonudista Luminata

In case you haven’t biked a year’s worth of nude rides yet this summer, here’s a chance to ride naked in the cover of darkness. The folks who brought you World Naked Bike Ride Seattle present Cyclonudista Luminata August 6. Pre-party from 9-10 at Fremont Arts Council Powerhouse (3940 Fremont Ave N). Ride starts at 10.

From Capitol Hill Seattle:

This Saturday, the World Naked Bike Ride’s Seattle people are packing away the lycra and planning a nude tour of the city including another ride down Broadway. In 2010, naked riders were stopped — in front of Dick’s of all places — by an overzealous SPD. There were no arrests but getting stopped by the cops kinda spoils the magnificent freedom that is chamois butter.

Details on being part of the 2011 Cyclonudista Luminata ride are here on Facebook. There are currently 16 signed up and temperatures are expected to be in the 70s. A NSFW promo for the event is below.

What am I missing? Probably a lot. Note any other bike events going on this weekend in the comments below.
