The day before ballots are mailed to Seattle homes, Seattle Bike Blog is adopting a Streets For All Seattle phone bank to help spread the word about Proposition 1, and we need your help! Join us October 18 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. (details below).
The basic strategy behind the Streets for All campaign is to make contact with as many Seattle voters as possible. So far, they have found that very few people they contact, either face-to-face or on the phone, have even heard of TBD Proposition 1. When they learn about the investments in transit, road safety and road preservation, people like what they hear.
This is where you come in. Help us pack the phone bank at the Futurewise offices and contact as many people as we can the night before ballots go out. It will also be a good opportunity to meet some of the other SBB readers. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday evening, eh?
- When: October 18, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
- Where: Futurewise’s office, SW corner of 3rd and Marion downtown — To get into the office, walk through the food court on the SW corner of 3rd and Marion, cross the skybridge then take the elevator up to the 5th floor.
- RSVP: Sign up for the October 18 phone bank here so that we have an idea of how many people are coming (if you forget to sign up, you can still come). While you’re at it, sign up for any other volunteer events you can get to, including the other phone bank nights and leafleting.
And, of course, if you plan on attending, let us know in the comments. Thanks!

Proposition 1 will generate $14 million for bicycle infrastructure over the next ten years. That’s real money that will make a real difference in expanding Seattle’s bicycle network. Please join the Bike Blog next week and let’s get this done.
I love this! Since bikes only get 7% of the pie and transit gets 49%, does that mean the Seattle Transit Blog will commit to hosting 7 nights of phonebanking?
Well done, Tom!
Love the idea! Sucks that I am working nights and weekends (including this one. ;-(
