This Weekend: Pedaler’s Fair showcases locally-made bike goods and art

The first Pedaler’s Fair will showcase Washington-made bike goods and art Saturday and Sunday in Ballard.

The lineup has grown significantly since we last wrote about the fair, the first of its kind in Seattle. Organized by Swift Industries and Go Means Go, the Pedaler’s Fair is modeled after Portland’s popular Bikecraft events. The fair hopes to promote and support the innovative people making bike stuff by hand. And there are a lot of them.

The list of vendors includes an exciting lineup of familiar and new names, including Telaio Clothing, Independent Woodworks, Cyclefab and many more.

Local frame builders Bombus Bikes, Donkelope Bikes and Sizemore will also be showing off their work.

There’s also a lineup of workshops and presentations, including one by Russ and Laura of the Path Less Pedaled (2 p.m. Saturday).

And if you have little ones, Julian from Totcycle is organizing a kidical mass ride to the fair Saturday morning:

We’ll keep this one simple, and classic. Gas Works Park by the play barn/play area. 11am this Saturday 4/21/12. Leave at 11:15ish, ride the Burke Gilman to 1415 NW 49th St for the bike crafts fair. Russ and Laura start at 2pm, if you’re able to stick around. Food is promised, but I don’t know how kid-friendly. BYO backup food, or know that there’s lots nearby, including el camion truck 3 blocks away. Yes.

The fair will be hosted in a super awesome historic building that is now the headquarters of Swift Industries and several other artists and businesses. The building alone is worth attending. Map of the location:

Made it to the fair at the last minute. It was a little hard to find – I was expecting a blocked-off street! Worth the search tho – glad to meet so many folks creating bikes and bike-related things.
