NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can’t believe I’m gonna miss this. Hope everyone has a blast this Friday. Stay safe. Here is a high speed video I shot of the 2010 DBDH, set to the Redwood Plan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNmI7iFy77U

You are nuts for riding in the on-coming lanes of traffic..never mind running those red lights.

      1. Erik Busse

This event does not reflect positively at all on the cycling community with a bunch of inebriated or stoned cyclists blowing through lights. Not only that, it is dangerous and unsafe.

      2. hand-wringing poltroon

wha? dangerous *and* unsafe?! i can’t thank you enough for informing me. i shall never break outlandishly inapplicable traffic law on my bicycle ever again. not to mention that i would so hate to momentarily inconvenience someone in their climate controlled, mobile lazy-boy — i mean, car.

    2. Law Abider

What if a bunch of car drivers or motorcycle riders decided to have a downhill race in the middle of the city where they ran red lights and veered into oncoming traffic? Would it still be considered ok?

        :'(

  2. no traffic lights

The. Greatest. Party. Known. To. Human. Kinduh.

  3. If you can’t wait to ride that day and are in the West Seattle area, the Alki Beach Creeps are doing a pre-ride party starting at the Chelan Café-Ebb-Tide Room starting at 4:00pm Friday. Here’s all the event information, hope we see you there!

Does no one else find this disturbing?

    1. Erik Busse

I do. The dead baby thing and the behavior of many of the participants. Not sure why Seattle Bike Blog is so enthusiastic about it.

      1. jm

Yes, disturbing. Its one of those things that’s uniquely Seattle, DBD and stuck up assholes who look dn their nose at anything different. Glad we wont b seeing u the

I’ve never done the actual downhill event, but the party afterwards in Georgetown is always insane. complete mayhem.

    2. meanie

Cycling isn’t an ideology, its a mode of transport. If people who like punk music, fire, and mutilated children’s toys want to play on the street who are you to judge them?

      1. aconn

i am currently bikeless but would love to attend the mayhem after party, where in georgetown does it take place? or is it pretty easy to find once you are there?

  5. danaphylaxis

you either get it or you are an uptight dork.

  6. JSM

It happenes only once a year! Get over it.
Or better yet get your head out your ass, an give it a shot!
You never know you might like it!!!

If you hate fun and hate partying stay at home

Saw three cyclists hit a turn wrong and go under cars.
Might want to think about closing the street for a hour…

  9. […] the Dead Baby Bike Club’s annual downhill race was a great experience.  I understand that this event is not for everyone.  In fact, only one of the three lawyers here (I, Bob– the one without kids) attended.  But […]

  10. Here is hoping no businesses get vandalized this time!!
