One response to “Bike News Roundup: I guess if your city’s gonna use sharrows, they might as well be funny about it”
The “avoiding car-centered language” article is interesting. Fore example the discussion about the word “upgrade” applied to widening a road from 2 to 4 lanes, which is only an upgrade for cars and typically worsens the pedestrian experience. I wonder if the efforts to use neutral terms will actually affect the outcome of road design – the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis all over again :)
