The ten-day, people-powered bicycle festival FREE BIKE kicks off bright and early tomorrow, and I can’t wait.
We challenged you all to make your bike ride and event ideas reality July 1–10, and you came through. The calendar currently has 22 events ranging from a WSDOT bike ride through the Bertha digging site to the World Naked Bike Ride. There are literally events from sunrise to sunset.
It’s not too late to add your idea to calendar.
To keep up on what’s happening around town and save a few dates that jump out at you, be sure to visit the official FREE BIKE Calendar.
Here’s a look at two events planned for Friday:
Sunrise Coffee Club
Let’s channel our cool cousins to the south and be like Portland Pedalpalooza with a #SunriseCoffeeClub on the first day of FREE BIKE!
Be at the Madrona Park picnic shelter (853 Lake Washington Blvd, Seattle, WA 98122) at 5:00 a.m. so we can enjoy the sunrise together at 5:16 a.m. Bring your outdoor coffee making stuff (camp stove, coffee, water).
FREE BIKE Kickoff Ride
Let’s kickoff FREE BIKE in style! Meet at MOHAI, end at Peddler Brewing.
Join FREE BIKE organizers Tom and Brock for a fun and easy cruise. Could be a good chance to ask us questions about your own ride idea or brainstorm with others.
Saturday preview:
Bike Mural Scavenger Hunt
Meet at Gas Works Park at 10 a.m. to get a list of all bike murals and public bike art in Seattle (exact locations will remain undisclosed). Finish at Peddler Brewing. First person back with selfies posted to Twitter or Instagram with all bike art wins a free Peddler Brewing growler. Bonus points for finding new public bike art.
Tour De France Stage 1 Party and Ride
Come to VENTOUX Roasters Cafe for a 10am bike ride to Kenmore and return to the cafe for a BBQ and watch the 1st Stage of the historic Tour De France Bike Race. No charge for the BBQ and stay as long as you would like for the showing of the Tour. Look forward to seeing you all here!

Congrats Seattle bikey folks! We have been running Velopalooza here in Vancouver, BC for several years. And of course Portland has been doing their inspirational Pedalpalooza for a long time.
More Bike Fun, more often!

Yeah! We mentioned in our post introducing FREE BIKE that both Velopalooza and Pedalpalooza were inspirations: http://www.seattlebikeblog.com/2016/04/11/announcing-free-bike-a-peoples-festival-pouring-into-the-streets-early-july/
Loved the party! Thanks!
