FREE BIKE Day 5: Sunset Mystery Ride + Yoga for Bike People

IMG_5311Sunday’s FREE BIKE Party and Pedaler’s Fair was a blast. Thanks to everyone who joined us for our first ever street party.

But FREE BIKE is far from over.

We challenged you all to make your bike ride and event ideas reality July 1–10, and you came through. The calendar currently has 22 events ranging from a WSDOT bike ride through the Bertha digging site to the World Naked Bike Ride. There are literally events from sunrise to sunset.

It’s not too late to add your idea to calendar.

To keep up on what’s happening around town and save a few dates that jump out at you, be sure to visit the official FREE BIKE Calendar.

Here’s a look at two events planned for Tuesday:

Sunset Mystery Ride

PCC Natural Markets-Fremon,

600 N 34th St
Seattle, 98103

+ Google Map

The premise is simple: We’ll ride our bikes a relatively short distance (around 5 miles) to a mystery location, one that will be good to watch the sunset! Get all your supplies for enjoyment (food and beverage) at the market at the start. We meet at 7 pm but we’ll depart at 7:30 pm so you’ll have time to grab something. Don’t forget to bring lights, as it’ll be dark for the ride home (ride not a loop). And a blanket to lie on and layers for when it gets cool ain’t bad either! Sunset is at 9:07 pm, so we’ll get there in plenty of time to enjoy it! And yes, the end is a mystery, so please don’t ask where we’re going!

Yoga for Bike People

yogaonbikesJuly 5 @ 7:00 pm8:30 pm

Cal Anderson Park Fountain,

1635 11th Ave
Seattle, WA 98122 United States

Stretch out those sore hamstrings and rounded shoulders with this relaxing bike ride infused with yoga breaks in Seattle’s scenic parks. Former yoga teachers and people who bike Amanda and Kelli will lead simple yoga warm-ups. The adventure begins in Cal Anderson Park where we will stretch using our bicycles as props. We will end with Yin (or restorative) yoga in Bradner Gardens.

Offtopic, but I noticed a sign on eastbound BGT, just after Phinney, that said “Trail Closed, July 25th to October 31st” (not 100% sure of the dates). It also had a WSDOT logo on the sign. Quick Google search didn’t turn up anything.

    Anyone know anything?
