Map of the closure.
Map of the closure from King County Parks.

A section of the Interurban Trail near the Algona/Pacific border will be closed for repairs now until January 27.

There is no official detour or temporary trail. Frontage Road is probable the most obvious alternative, though Josh Putnam noted some additional options via Tacoma Blvd or a longer route via Milwaukee Blvd:

More details from King County Parks:

Portions of the Interurban Trail will be closed for repairs between 3rd Ave Southwest and 5th Ave Northwest in Algona/Pacific from November 28, 2022 – January 27, 2023. Construction hours are 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. No detour is available so please plan alternate routes.

Work includes repaving the trail and repainting lines, installing temporary erosion control, street crossings, signage, and more.

Please follow all posted signs and directions from crews.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete this important work!

Judging from the state of the trail at the south end (lots of weeds growing in the pavement, etc.), most everyone gets off at 1st Ave N (Valley Mart) and heads down Milwaukee if they’re heading south to the Sumner Link Trail. It will be nice if this section of the trail gets some maintenance so that one can ride more trail and less streets.
