Biking Uphill in the Rain is coming out in paperback!

It bends now.

My book Biking Uphill in the Rain: The Story of Seattle from behind the Handlebars is getting a second run, this time in paperback.

It is set for release through University of Washington Press in February for $25, and you can pre-order a copy via the Seattle Bike Blog Shop. I will get it to you as soon as I get my first shipment. As with the hardcover edition, which is still available, any copies purchased through the SBB Shop will be signed and will include a Seattle Bike Blog sticker.

The content is very lightly touched up. One photo was swapped for a higher-resolution version of the same image, and a handful of typos were fixed. So if you already have the hardcover, don’t expect any additional content from the paperback. But for those who like to bend their books while they read, well, you can do that now.

It’s been very interesting to see how much longer a book stays relevant compared to an online post. I am used to nearly all reads on anything I write on Seattle Bike Blog happening in the first couple days after hitting publish. Some older posts get passed around again if a new story makes them relevant, but the typical life of each piece is fairly short. But with a book, people add them to their stacks or pass them around. It’s great.

I don’t currently have any book events on the calendar, but I am due for another Seattle event and maybe events in Portland and Vancouver, BC. So stay tuned (and if you have any connections to folks who might want to host an event, let me know!).

Thank you all for reading.
