Watch a bike race in real life, then Stage 18 of the Tour de France on a projector screen at Seward Park tonight.
Cascade Bicycle Club is hosting their annual Cyclefest party at the park tonight (Thursday) starting at 4 and going until 10:45. There’s beer, vendors, activities for kids and more.
Before we settle in to watch Tour de France, local racers will be competing in the Thursday Night Bike Races in the park. These short, fast-paced criterium races will feature men categories 1 through 4 as well as a women’s only race.
While the racers are going in circles, you can browse the vendor booths, take the kids to play at the art table and Wheelie Fun Course, relax with a picnic in the grass or catch up with friends over frothy Schooner Exact Brewery beverage in the beer garden.
As the sun goes down, all eyes will be on a giant, inflatable screen as the world’s best male cyclists compete for a Tour de France stage win in the mountains.

There ain’t many events for us Southend bikers, so I’m gonna try and get out of my volunteer duties early to check this out!
