I am super excited to announce an all-new Seattle Bike Blog event, Bicycle Sundae: an alleycat-style ice cream scavenger hunt by bike.
Organized in conjunction with Bicycle Benefits, you’ll be sent out into the city on a journey to tour as many of Seattle’s awesome ice cream, gelato and frozen custard shops as you can before time is up. Bike, eat ice cream, bike, eat ice cream, repeat…
Join us June 1. The ride starts at 12:30 p.m. at Full Tilt in Ballard and ends around 4 in Seward Park for the city’s car-free Lake Washington Boulevard bike party: Bicycle Sunday.
The event costs $10 if you already have a Bicycle Benefits sticker ($15 if you don’t, but then you’ll get one). You can register at the start (get there by noon) or pre-register online at the event page.
You can also RSVP via facebook and invite your friends.
More details from the event page:
When: June 1. Meet at noon, leave a 12:30.
Start: Full Tilt Ice Cream in Ballard
End: Seward Park (for Bicycle Sunday!)

You can pre-register for the ride below or register in-person at the start. You can ride in groups or solo. We’ll have prizes and ice cream at the finish. Costumes are encouraged.
As a scavenger hunt, you will be given a list of Seattle ice cream shops to visit and some other challenges to complete. Your goal is to visit as many stops and complete as many challenges as you can during the time given. There is no set route or closed course. It will be up to you how you bike from place-to-place.
Note that the ride does not end where it starts. The ride should end around 4 p.m.

Does $10 get me ice cream at all the stops along the way? I know my Bicycle Benefits sticker gets me discounts at some ice cream shops.
Your entry will get you ice cream. Every stop may not necessarily have ice cream, but there will be plenty :-)
(I love this idea- I have been quoted as saying “I could live on ice cream. Well, not physically, but emotionally, I could live on ice cream”)
you should add an art credit

Oh, wow. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
We actually commissioned the poster from an acquaintance. I was gonna pay him!
That’s very frustrating. I don’t condone using people’s art without permission (or payment). I’ll take care of this. Thanks again for letting me know.
I edited the poster. Now I gotta figure out if the ice cream image was lifted. Not cool!
An update: I tracked down the original artist behind the ice cream rocket image used in the previous poster, and he confirmed that the image was used without permission. I apologize to Tim Marriott, who does awesome work you can check out here: http://www.timmarriott.co.uk/
So I pulled together a new poster this morning, now posted above. That great ice cream bike image is by Travis Swan (Creative Commons 2.0).
I do not condone using people’s art without permission or payment. I regret this happened. Thanks again, Tom, for pointing out the issue.
No ice cream for you!
