Max Hepp-Buchanan, Co-Chair of the Seattle Bicycle Advisory Board and Advocacy Programs Manager for Cascade Bicycle Club, is moving to Virginia.

If you have never worked with Max, he’s great and I’m sure he will do wonderful things as the Director of Bike Walk RVA in Richmond. He truly listens to people and tries his best to figure out how different interested parties can work together to make a more bikeable and walkable city.

He was, for example, a lead architect behind the Advocacy Leadership Institute, which aimed to empower regular ol’ residents with the skills to build their own safe streets movement. We are already seeing changes led by members of the first graduating class.

So that leaves the rest of us to fill his shoes. Cascade has launched a search for a Field Programs Manager. Applications are due February 13. Details:

The Field Programs Manager will empower and mobilize Cascade members and constituents to advance our mission of creating better communities through bicycling in the Puget Sound region. The Field Programs Manager will identify, recruit and develop leaders from the community to be effective advocates for Cascade’s agenda, as well as serving as an advocate herself. The Field Programs Manager is a key member of Cascade’s Policy, Planning and Government Affairs Department team, working to advocate for better bicycle plans, policies, funding and projects.

Campaign, community or other organizing experience is an absolute necessity. An understanding of transportation and land use policy and funding is desirable.
