Cranksgiving 2010 riders donate bike-loads of food

Thanks to everyone who rode across the city in the finger-numbing cold, buying groceries for the Rainier Valley Food Bank Saturday. You made Seattle’s first Cranksgiving a wonderful success! Over 30 riders registered for the ride’s start at Cal Anderson, and most of them made it to Genesee Park in Columbia City without conking out!

Seattle’s First Cranksgiving – Details

Cranksgiving is a ride for everyone from racers and messengers to families and cargo bikers. It’s a celebration of goodwill and bicycles. It’s a demonstration that the bike is a great way to accomplish simple errands, like going to the grocery store. But most of all, it’s about having a great time.

Cranksgiving Update – Ride is Nov. 20, top prize is a night at Belltown Inn

Cranksgiving in Seattle: Who wants to help make it happen?

After reading about other cities’ Cranksgiving races (like the one in my hometown of St. Louis, above) I went on a search for one in Seattle. So far, I haven’t found anyone organizing it (if someone is, let me know in the comments). That means it’s up to us to make this happen.
